Mercer, PA
Traveling east on Rte 80 from Ohio to western Pennsylvania be sure to stop
in at Rachel's Roadhouse. Take I-80 east to CRT. 19 (Mercer Exit 15). Turn
right (south) on CRT. 19 approximately 3.5 miles.
Rachel's Roadhouse is one of a number of restored road side inns that Springfield's owns. The following is a list of their other fine establishments:
Iron Bridge Inn
Rachel's Roadhouse
Log Cabin Inn
Hickory Bar & Grille
Springfield Grille Mercer
Springfield Grille Boardman
Springfield Grille Mars
Rachel's Roadside offered not only great food, but great service at well. You can dine near the fireplace if you want the utmost in atmosphere. Casual dress is OK in this restaurant. They even offer shuffleboard in the back room.
Rachel's offers daily lunch and dinner specials, huge appetizers, great steaks, seafood, soups & salads, sandwiches and wonderful desserts. They also offer a full bar. I enjoyed a platter of ribs, smoked ham and chicken with all the fixings.
The large parking lot and spacious dining area were wonderful. I loved
the wooden booths and their beautiful tin ceilings.
Next to Rachel's is a beautiful old stone house that was erected in 1831. It is known as the Johnston House and once served road travelers. Today it is a gift shop, known as the Olde English Shoppe
